Using the Internet

I appreciate seeing more views of the city and orphanage. I think it would be useful for us to put together an overview of the city and orphanage so that members, contributors, and others might relate more easily to the need and what we're doing to meet it. This could be on-line and/or a scrapbook.
Speaking of on-line resources, I'm able to put together a complete web site with a full-featured bulletin board/forum, private messaging, newsletters, etc. The basic site and forum would take only a week or so to set up. We would first need a domain name and service provider.
Other preliminary work includes setting up a 501c3 and bank account. I think the 501c3 is mostly a paperwork drill but I don't have that experience. Has anyone discussed this?

I love the mission statement, Paul, and the CORC! Our computer has been down for the past two weeks.....we can't send e-mail messages, so I have not been able to post to the group a review of what we talked about at our last meeting. I hope to have everything resolved by early this week!

As near as I can figure Shizong is near the top of the last "N" in "Yunnan" on this map.

Mission of CORC

Regarding our recent meeting, my first thought is that our mission seems to be "Expressing the heart of God toward Chinese orphans." We look on them with compassion and are stirred to help because God first had compassion on them. Our efforts proceed from the work of the Holy Spirit shaping our hearts to be like his.

This was a particularly helpful image as it shows the location of

Qujing Prefecture within Yunnan, and

Shizong County within Qujing.

The county is just visible as a bit of red on the country map.

I'm one of the less-informed of the Club regarding China and spent the last meeting trying to understand the orphanage and its needs and the resources available. I would really like a more complete picture so I looked around on-line but didn't find much. I'm not even totally sure where the orphanage is but I collected the info below. The country is divided up differently than is the U.S., of course, and the divisions are confusing.

Shizong is the name of a COUNTY which contains 3 URBAN TOWNSHIPS and 6 RURAL TOWNSHIPS.

Shizong also seems to be the name of a town with a population of 25,000 which is IN the urban townhship of Danfeng.

They also mention a CIRCLE SHIZONG...?
"At community level, the circle consists of four major municipalities and four communities together."

The circle Shizong (师宗县, pinyin: Shīzōng Xian) is a district in the eastern Chinese province of Yunnan. It belongs to the administrative area of the district-free city Qujing. Shizong has an area of 2,858 or 2,783 square kilometers and has 378,621 inhabitants (2005). Its capital is the major community Danfeng (丹凤镇).
